E-SHOE

E-SHOE

The E-shoe by Chicks on Speed (COS) is the world’s first wireless, high-heeled shoe guitar. The E-shoe was made in collaboration with Siberian-born shoe designer Max Kibardin, MID, and Hangar’s interaction laboratory in Barcelona. The shoe jewelry was made by Marc Monzó and the sounds were created by Boris Garcia Godas and Panoxa.com.

The E-shoe is capable of triggering sounds wirelessly using midi and custom electronics developed and embedded into the object. This shoe is part of the Objekt Instruments series of works by Chicks on Speed. COS is a multidisciplinary art group working on art, craft, fashion, music, and new media.

The E-Shoe was exhibited in SonarMàtica (Sónar 2010, International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media). In 2011, top model Kate Moss was featured wearing the E-Shoe in a shoot by photographer Mario Testino, which was taken celebrate Vogue Brazil’s 36th anniversary.
